Moving in 2 days!

Have I mentioned yet that I'm beyond excited about moving into my new apartment? Didn't think so. I'm going on a trip to Ikea tomorrow to buy a bed, mattress, bedding, bowls, art, curtains, picture frames, among lots of other things. Let's see how much money I can spend! I get the keys to my apartment at 1pm on Sunday, so there will be a giant moving party that day! And it's perfect that I don't work Mondays, because then I will have a whole day to unpack and settle in. Yayayay. Monday night will be such a good feeling.

Life is so exciting right now! Moving and everything else is just going so well. :) This week has been another busy one complete with a play, a craft fair, going out for dinner a few times, coffee dates, late nights, and happiness.

Photo shoot

So my cousin asked me to be her model a couple weeks ago - she's in photography school right now, and had an assignment to do a photo to represent some song lyrics. Her lyrics of choice were: In this dark cold hotel room / And the endlessness that I fear which basically meant that she wanted me to look suicidal and out of it. Which was difficult to accomplish!! But, I thought I'd share a few of the results:

The school countdown is on: 2.5 weeks

Okay, I have an hour long presentation to do tomorrow for my Psyc class, and I'm finding that I'm less anxious about it than I thought I would be. I'm not sure why, and I think this is a good thing. The only thing I'm concerned about is the class participation discussion question part because my class is not very easy to get talking!! I think I may have to bribe with treats - I was going to bake cookies, buuuut there is really no time for that! If only I didn't have to work all day tomorrow, I'd have so much more time to make this a rockin presentation with cookies to complete it. Oh well - store-bought candy will have to do! Wish me luck :)

Also - today was the most gorgeous day ever! It was so sunny and clear, and even though the wind was cold, it was so beautiful. I ate my lunch in a secluded sunny spot outside a little cafe, and I felt WARM. My cheeks were getting hot, and I had to take off my coat! It made me soo happy. Oh winter, how I dread your arrival! Why can't we just bypass it and have summer again!

I think I might be getting sick again, although randomly only one side of my throat is sore, and the same side ear is sore also. Weird.

Okay. Living at home is driving me insane. INSANE. I'm about ready to yell. These next two weeks cannot go fast enough.

Maresa, when will you be home for dinner? Oh, we'll wait for you, so we can eat together.
OH Maresa, where are you going? But won't you be home for DINNER?
Maresa, will you call your grandma and thank her for your birthday card? No, NOW, Maresa, here's the phone. Would you like me to dial the number for you?

Okay, hello! I cannot live my own life here. I feel like I have no space, I have no freedom, I'm confined to my room for privacy, I can't do anything without everyone knowing. GET ME OUT!

Just live your life, no telling where it'll take you

My abs hurt. I don't think they've ever really been sore before, so this is a weird feeling. They got a big workout at the total body conditioning class I went to last night... and I'm feeling a bit sore all over. But it's great. Love it.

Happy Birthday to me!! Well, on Thursday. I am now the ripe old age of 23, and another year wiser, and embarking on another year of new possibilities. I'm excited to see what will happen :) I'm also really excited because tonight I'm going out to celebrate with the girls! We're going to dress up fancy and then go have dinner and drinks and get plastered.

Other exciting news!! I got an apartment!! My own 1 br, all to myself, and I move in Dec 1. Yayayay! It's super cute, about a 20-30 min walk from downtown, and only a 5 min drive from my work. It's got refinished hardwood floors and a balcony, and it's a corner suite... the only hilarious part about it is the kitchen which is tiny tiny and it's got a beautiful retro olive green fridge. Woot. I think I can handle it. I'll turn the kitchen into retro chic!! :)

My current motto for life: Just live it. Don't hesitate. Experience it. And that's what I've been doing: living and learning. I feel alive.

Shopaholic!!

I just want to say that right now I am sitting in a big winged leather armchair, beside a gas fireplace, and looking out at the sun setting on the calm waters of Birch Bay, WA. This is awesome. Plus, there's free WiFi, even more awesome.

I am shopped out. We started the shopping extravaganza on Sunday afternoon with a trip to the small outlet mall (where we were excited for the Lululemon outlet, but were very sadly disappointed). Yesterday, though, was the biggie. We left the condo at 8:30 and arrived at Seattle Premium Outlets just before 10:00 when they opened. With coffee to start our shopping buzz, we stayed there until 2:30. My favourite purchase from there is my new coat from the Guess outlet, which is the cutest thing ever - black and white houndstooth wool. We then drove a half hour to the giant Alderwood Mall and stayed there until closing at 9:00!!! Oh my god, my feet and legs were SO sore. By the time 7:00 rolled around, Laurel and I had to take a sit-down break every half hour because our arms were so sore from holding all our bags and our feet were so sore from all the walking! Craziness!! We didn't get home until 11:30 last night, and then I had a hot shower and fell into bed.

Today was a small day, we slept in (thank god) and then hit up Bellis Fair. We'd been in most of the stores already though, plus our money stashes were almost depleted, so we didn't buy a whole lot and only stayed until 2:00. Now we are back at the condo relaxing, and I'm supposed to be doing my homework... shhhhhh. ;)

What an intense shopping trip! I have bought a coat, shirts, 2 skirts, a pair of skinny jeans (the horror), 3 pairs of shoes, and perfume!! I'm pretty sure that now I won't be allowed to spend ANY money for a long time. It's a good thing we're going home tomorrow! :)

With the fall winds come a change

I have been avoiding updating because stuff has happened which I don't really feel comfortable blogging about. Basically, Geoff and I have broken up - well, I hate the term "break up" because it sounds so final, and that's not how I feel about it at all. So maybe we're taking a break. An extended one. I don't know. Anyway, I'm currently living at my parents' house (which is wearing thin) and will soon be getting my own apartment. I don't really want to go into any other details, so I'll leave it at that.

It's amazing how busy I've been in the past week, though. Maybe to get my mind off things. But it feels like I've been running around and seeing so many different people, it's actually been really great. Today was another crazy day - I got my hair done in the morning (it is now quite blonde, which I spontaneously decided I wanted, after initially thinking I wanted to go darker), and while my colour was setting, I was calling ads in the newspaper about apartments for rent. I went to go view one this afternoon, and then met up with a girl from work and we went for a walk with her dog. Now I have to run to the university to submit an assignment which is due on Monday but I'm skipping out of class because tomorrow Laurel and I are leaving to go shopping at the outlet malls by Seattle for a couple days! Shopping therapy, definitely.
