Pondering Bread Slicing Methods

What does the way you slice your bread say about you?

Last night I was watching my mom make a sandwich, and after she was finished, she sliced the bread horizontally across. She always used to slice my sandwiches this way when I was a kid and I always hated it. To me, the horizontal slice was so ugly, and sandwiches looked so much more pretty and grown up when they were sliced diagonally so the bread formed two perfect triangles. To this day when I make my own sandwiches, I always slice the bread diagonally. It just tastes better that way.

i am a diagonal slicer. but i also like making bread soldiers. i.e. when you cut it into 3 or 4 thin strips.

I dont slice my bread. It's just an extra thing that is unnecessary.

this is a hot topic. maresa, perhaps you should make a facebook group about it. personally, i love sandwiches cut into quarters, like laurel, but i agree with maresa about slicing diagonally. much more attractive. however, when i am making a sandwich to take to work or school i often don't slice it at all, a la john, because it stays together better that way.

dude, i am so not into quarters. all the filling falls out. unless, i suppose, it's plain grilled cheese or peanut butter and jam - but generally, i like my sandwiches packed with as much stuff as possible.
